Cumann na mBunscoil Blitz
Well done to our teams who took part in the Cumann na mBunscoil Blitz in St Faithleach's GAA. Our boys team made it to the final after having wins over Rooskey and Ballyleague. In the final they met Whitehall and both teams really put on a great game of football. Cloontuskert played their hearts to until the very end. Well done to our girls team who equally played a great game of football against Ballyleague. Every showed great potential and left the games full of enthusiasm for plenty more gaelic.
Training with Ciaráin Murtagh Roscommon Senior Player
There was great excitement in Rang 5 & 6 when it was announced that local Roscommon footballer Ciaráin Murtagh was coming to the school to help train the teams. Ciaráin did lots of drills and encouraged every pupil to keep up all the hard work, as he could see huge improvements since the Cúl Camps. After playing a game and then taking some penalties, Ciaráin went on to chat to the pupils about the importance of respect for each other on the pitch and to always encourage each other in positive ways. Ciaráin wished all the players the very best with the Cumann na mBunscoil Blitz which takes place in Faithleach's on Thursday. He will be there to support and help out with the teams on the day. Many thanks from everyone in Cloontuskert for giving generously of your time and expertise.
GAA Coaching
Dia duit
Gaelic training started last September. Our Gaa coach Ollie comes for Gaelic every week on Friday.
He takes us for one hour and does lots of skills and drills with us. Some of the drills consist of passing, kicking, tackling, hand passing and picking up the football. We all work at Gaelic and we have matches among ourselves too.
