Thank you to Mary and Janet from Lanesboro Ballyleague Credit Union for their generosity at the recent Credit Union summer draw. Our winners were Sinead, Conor and Aoife.
The children visited the Wind Farm on Sliabh Bán today. We visited the Wind Turbines and had a tour of Sliabh Bán. We learned all about the Turbines, which are a huge 80 metres! We also visited the summit where we could see our school and The Abbey - it was very exciting. Thanks to Coilte who provided the bus and who gave us the tour of Sliabh Bán - we had a great day! All the children had a very enjoyable morning in Strokestown Fire Station. They learned safety techniques on how to prevent fires and what to do in an emergency. Each child got a chance to sit in the Fire Engine and press the siren! A huge thank you to Brendan Foy and his team at Strokestown Fire Station. I'd like to say a huge thank you from everyone here in Cloontuskert N.S. to Vinny, James, Margaret, Shauna and T.J from the Cloontuskert Residents Association who worked so hard all year keeping our school grounds looking so well. We really appreciate all of your efforts.
This week we raised our 7th Green Flag for Global Citizenship - Litter and Waste. The children worked extremely hard to be awarded this flag and we are very proud of them. We had a very special day where the children performed a selection of songs, recitals and dance. Our special guest was Lanesboro native and 2FM's Breakfast Republic presenter, Keith Walsh. The children played the 'Smarty Pants' quiz with Keith where the questions were based on his knowledge of the local area - he did very well! They also had a 'Questions and Answers' session with the Dj, where they learned a lot about working in radio, working with Bernard and Jen and what time he gets up at in the morning! After our great performances from all the children, Keith raised our latest Green Flag. We hope you enjoyed our day as much as we all did. Check out some photographs from the day! Well done to Keisha and Megan who received their awards for the Garda Road Safety Poster Competition earlier today. We're proud of you!
