Welcome to the Senior Room Page. Fáilte romhat!

Autumn Colours Dathanna an Fhómhair

Hello! My name is. I am eleven years old. I am in Sixth Class in Cloontuskert N.S.
I love everything we do in school. There are nine people in Sixth Class and six in Fifth Class. Fifth and Sixth Class are in the Senior Room.
My favourite subjects are Art and P.E. We do sport and art and loads of different things in school. All our artwork and stories are displayed throughout the school. We have a library full of brilliant books. Our classroom is a brilliant learning environment.
One of the things we do are computer classes on a Tuesday. We do these classes with a woman called Paula. She is very kind and helpful. We learn how to type properly and how to use computers properly. We learn how to put borders on our pages. We use “Mavis Beacon” to make learning to type fun. We do different activities based on the time of year e.g. We do Halloween stuff at Halloween. This course goes on for seven weeks and we benefit greatly from it.
Hi. I’m . I am in fifth class. My favourite subject is Art. There are 15 in the whole classroom, 6 in fifth and 9 in sixth. I have lots of friends.
We do lots of subjects like Irish, English, Art, Maths and History. We go outside at break time. Our English and Irish stories are displayed in our classroom. We also made portraits of our friends. We glued on pieces of foam to make a decorative frame. Everyone had lots of fun making them and now they’re on display in our room.  We also labelled this piece of art

We enjoyed playing with tangrams at maths time.

Fifth and Sixth class pupils are in our in our room.

Our teacher is Mr. Connerton.

We do many activities and sports with our teacher.

We have a great selection of books in our library.

We have many facilities such as computers and an interactive whiteboard.

Our room is very colourful with art and posters displayed everywhere.

Our class is great for letting us be who we want to be.

The Music Man
James Donoghue came to the school to help us with the music for the Christmas concert. All the Children put in huge efforts into the show. Some of them gave up nearly all their break times to practice. Since Christmas they have continued to work hard at their music and  we will have very exciting news about music in the school in the near future, so as they say, watch this space!
Science Week
Big thank you to Mr O' Gorman and his team of scientists who organised a fun science day.
5th and 6th Classes are taking part in the Discovery Science and Maths programme this year. Their first experiments were with Magnets.

Italy Projects

Well done for all the great work that went into the Italy projects. Well done to everyone for the hard work they put in to these projects.

Maths in Action

5th and 6th class were busy working on length in the classroom and headed out to the yard to find the measurements around the school. Both classes worked very well together measuring with the trundle wheels, measuring tapes and metre sticks. Then 6th class moved on to drawing the school map to scale.

English Writing Project: Recipe Writing

Recently the Senior Room pupils  were given the task of writing a recipe and creating a "Tangy Dessert". A huge effort went into writing the recipes and creating the dishes and it was very hard to decide who were the award winning chefs. Well done to everyone. The Cloontuskert NS Recipe Book is available for browsing on the Senior Room's library.

WINNERS OF THE RECIPE WRITING PROJECT.
Well done to all our winners who put in such great efforts at writing their recipes. If you'd like a look at all the work that was put in, the Cloontuskert N.S. Recipe Book can be seen in the Senior Room's library.
